What’s new? v4.95 — The inventory fills itself in and follows your people

A probe on the network or the GLPI agent reports devices and their software, and a person approves what gets in. Plus a handover form to sign, an alert when someone leaves with equipment, contracts, and value and age reports.
v4.95.0 — The inventory fills itself in and follows your people
Keeping an IT inventory by hand is a job that never ends: you do it once with the best intentions, and three months later it no longer matches reality. In this release the inventory can fill itself in. A probe on the network, or the GLPI agent installed on each machine, reports what it finds, including hardware and installed software.
What is discovered does not go straight in
Nothing the probe or the agent reports is added to the inventory on its own. It lands in an inbox where a person decides: approve the device as new, link it to one that already exists, or discard it. That avoids duplicates and keeps only what is really a company asset, not the phone of a visitor who joined the wifi.
The inventory follows people
- When you assign a device, the handover form is generated for signing.
- If a user, or an employee who still has equipment assigned, is deactivated, whoever manages the inventory is notified.
- You can record support and warranty contracts, and the purchase details of each asset.
- There are value, age and renewal reports.
Updating does not turn anything on by itself: discovery starts when you register a probe or connect the agent.
